Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy
University of Nevada

The Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy (GBCGE) was informally organized within the Mackay School of Mines at the University of Nevada, Reno in May 2000. The formation of the GBCGE was in response to new congressional initiatives for accelerated development of renewable energy sources in the western US. Funding has primarily been provided by the US Department of Energy, and supports research into many aspects of geothermal exploration and development, as well as education.

Varve Studios redesigned the original website from the ground up beginning with new branding and a clean structure. The new design brought focus to the research and people at the Center as well as an emphasis on education. Some key features include responsive design, logo development and an intuitive onscreen content editor.

I have worked with Mark on two websites, the Planetary Sciences Section of the American Geophysical Union and our Geothermal Center. Mark brings a creative eye to integrating compelling imagery with geoscience content. His work is professional, timely and he always listens to feedback and changes that the customer requests.
