American Geophysical Union
Planetary Sciences Section

The American Geophysical Union has more than 60,000 members and is "an international Union of scientists, working together on a broad spectrum of scientific topics that span all of the Earth and space sciences." As the Web Manager for the AGU Planetary Sciences Section I provided a complete redesign of the section website and integrated new social media features.

The design was created to provide a visually appealing presentation while maintaining a clean textual layout. Planetary imagery from past and present space missions are featured in the header of each webpage and additional information guides users to more learning resources. Regular articles featuring planetary scientists and their research provide fresh content while enabling other scientists and interested public to learn more about the planetary sciences and those who continue to explore its wonders.

Mark has impressively grown the web presence for the AGU Planetary Sciences Section through a combination of thoughtful design, social media, and passion for science. His redesign of the website introduced a clean layout combining stunning images of planetary landscapes and exploration with scientific details.

The design captured the attention of other AGU sections and is regularly updated with current events and activities. Custom content written and designed by Mark brings a focus on planetary scientists in a series of beautifully illustrated interview articles. Consistent updates and interactions on social media platforms including facebook and twitter have also increased the exposure of planetary science to a wider audience.
