AGU Planetary Sciences Section
The American Geophysical Union has more than 58,000 members and is "an international Union of scientists, working together on a broad spectrum of scientific topics that span all of the Earth and space sciences." As the Web Manager for the AGU Planetary Sciences Section I provided a complete redesign of the section website and integrated new social media features.
The design was created to provide a visually appealing presentation while maintaining a clean textual layout. Planetary imagery from past and present space missions are featured in the header of each webpage and additional information guides users to more learning resources. Regular articles featuring planetary scientists and their research provide fresh content while enabling other scientists and interested public to learn more about the planetary sciences and those who continue to explore its wonders.

Equipment Resource Group
Equipment Resource Group specializes in sales and customization of heavy trucks. Varve Studios enjoys a long-working relationship with ERG, having worked with them since setting up their initial Web presence. Intuitive navigation and clear presentation of truck inventory are priorities for ERG's actively visited website. A customized inventory database management system was also designed allowing for ERG to easily manage their inventory online.
Social media integration was done as part of a site update that included customized cross-branding on facebook and twitter. A fresh new web design that maintained the familiar site navigation was also created including a blogging platform (WordPress) that seamlessly integrates with the rest of the website.

Air Bravo Corporation
Air Bravo Corporation provides air ambulance, passenger, and cargo flight services across North America. Varve Studios worked with Air Bravo on a redesign to bring new life to the corporate website. Approval of a bright new layout with updated graphics and Google Maps integration followed.

Expressway Trucks
Expressway Trucks is Canada's largest Volvo Heavy Truck dealer with several locations across Ontario. Varve Studios worked directly with key staff to develop a new website that communicates their full range of sales, warranty, maintenance, and parts services at all of their locations.
A company intranet portal was also developed to provide employees with easy access to corporate resources while retaining a consistent design with the new website.

Understand
An effective website requires a thorough understanding of the person or business it represents. The first important step is to learn about you, your market, and your goals. Where possible, I'll meet with you in person to understand your market and goals to produce a realistic estimate that includes all of the options we agree would be most effective for your Web presence.
Design
The design phase is a creative process that brings the vision of your website into reality. The process typically proceeds in this fashion: mockups - revisions - coding - testing - launch.
Mockups, or comps, are static designs of each page of your website that are developed using industry software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. The mockups are provided to you electronically for your review and comment. The revision phase allows for any edits or changes to be incorporated into the mockups prior to the coding of your website. All coding is performed manually to ensure your website matches the design with optimal, streamlined, validated code. The code is something most visitors won't look at, but like a performance vehicle, its design and optimization is critical for a smooth visitor experience and also affects search engine rankings (how easily visitors can find your website).
The testing phase takes place throughout the coding phase and upon completion of coding. Testing ensures your website will look and behave properly on a variety of Web browsers used on different computers (i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.).
The final phase is the most exciting - your website is officially launched making it accessible on the Web. In addition to properly configuring it on your Web servers (Varve Studios also provides hosting options) your new website will be submitted to several major search engines for indexing, such as Google, Bing, and others.
